What is Bet Halev?
Bet Halev - Hebrew for “House of the Heart”
is a spiritual home and community center for Israeli and Jewish travelers in Varkala, India. Founded in 2022 by Maayan and Ashriel Ashush, creators of The Jewish Nomads, it offers warm hospitality, soulful connection, and a sense of belonging for those on a journey - whether physical, emotional, or spiritual.
Open from Sukkot to Purim each year, Bet Halev serves nourishing vegetarian meals, hosts daily classes, and invites travelers to share their gifts, yoga, music, breath work , or simply presence. It’s not a program, it’s not just a center - it’s a home.
Our Purpose
Bet Halev was born from our own journey. After years of traveling across Asia,the U.S., and Central America, we realized our mission wasn’t just to explore, but to share what we’ve learned . We created a space where Israelis and Jews can feel seen, safe, and spiritually supported, without judgment, pressure, or expectation.
Why Now?
Since October 7th, Beit HaLev has become a sanctuary. Survivors of trauma, displaced families, and reservists needing a break have all found peace here. Without formal therapy or structure, healing happens, through community, shared meals, quiet presence, and authentic connection.
As one visitor said: “There’s something in their home that makes you feel at home. That’s healing without doing anything.”
